What is NDIS and NDIS Plan?
What is NDIS stand for and its role to participants?
- The NDIS stands for National Disability Insurance Scheme
- NDIS gives funding to eligible individuals with disabilities
- NDIS helps participants to spend more time with their families and friends, gain more independence, gain access to new skills, jobs, or volunteer in their community, and have a better quality of life.
- The NDIS also connects people with disabilities to community services
- The support coordinators who help participants to find suitable disability support providers to achieve goals set in the NDIS plan
What is NDIS Plan and content of a plan?
Example of a NDIS plan
- The NDIS plan sets out your goals and the supports that will help you pursue those goals.
- It clearly defines funded supports to reach the the goals.
Depend on the person’s level of disability the funded supports can vary. - They can be Capacity building ( support coordination, positive behaviour plans), Improved life choices (Plan Management And Financial Capacity Building ), Improved daily living, assistance with daily life (Short Term accommodation, supported independent living), Community access supports, transport, Capital cost (Specialised Disability Accommodation/ SDA)

- Cover page
NDIS plan cover page includes Participant name, NDIS Number, Plan start and end dates and the plan review date
2. About Me / My Profile
Personal information about the participant such as date of birth, email, descriptions about me, family and friends, and services and community involvement
3. My Goals
This includes all of the participant short term and long term goals
4. My Supports
Those supports categories are;
- Capacity building (support coordination, positive behaviour plans)
- improved life choices (plan management and financial capacity building)
- improved daily living
- assistance with daily living (Short Term accommodation, supported independent living)
- community access supports and transport
- capital cost (Specialised Disability Accommodation/ SDA) are some examples
5. NDIS reasonable and necessary budget
NDIS plan shows the value of funding for different budget areas. It also mention how NDIS pay the funds to support providers either through agency manage or plan manager
